Will of Charles Pasteur (+1793) of Halifax Co., NC

In the name of God Amen. I Charles Pasteur of the County of Halifax and State of North Carolina, knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die and being willing to make distribution of my estate in order to prevent any disputes that may arise after my death, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament, to-wit: Imprimis, It is my will and I do desire that all of my just debts should be paid.

Item. I leave my lands called Hydes plantation to be sold by my executors hereinafter named, on twelve months credit, and also on the same credit and in the same manner, I leave to be sold my house and lots in the Town of Halifax; and also about seven or eight acres of land adjoining the Town of Halifax; in order to aid the payment of my debts; hereby authorizing and empowering my said Executors to give good and sufficient conveyances for the same lands and lots etc.

Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Lane five shillings to her and her heirs forever.

Item. I leave all the rest and residue of my estate be the same of whatsoever nature or kind it my be, real or personal after the payment of debts to be equally divided in the following manner, viz: between my beloved wife Martha Pasteur and the following children, viz: Mary Gilmour, Frances Pasteur, John James Pasteur, Annie McKinnie Pasteur, and Sarah Elizabeth Pasteur. My beloved wife Martha Pasteur to have two equal shares thereof; the other five children, viz: Mary Gilmour, Frances Pasteur, John James Pasteur, Annie McKinnie Pasteur, Sarah Elizabeth Pasteur, to share and share alike in manner and form as is before mentioned, to them and their heirs forever.

Lastly, I nominate, constitute and appoint my friends Lunsford Long and Richard Harrison Long and my son John James Pasteur Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others wills by me heretofore made.
